Tactics Mostly big charges to make use of all those impact hits and brawling with infantry, very little can go toe to toe with Ogres but be aware of the ones that can. The biggest flaw in the Ogre Kingdoms army is a small number of models on the field (most of the time), this makes them more vulnerable to cannons, bolt throwers and anything.
The Ogre series is a franchise of video strategy games dating back to 1993. It's first appearance was on the SNES, under the name Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. The franchise is developed by the company Quest, and has been published by Enix and Atlus. The Ogre series is split into two subseries to split apart the different styles of strategy gameplay; 'Battle' and 'Tactics'.
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis is another game in the Ogre Battle series. This is a tactics-based game and it is near impossible not to compare it to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I feel that for more hardcore strategy style gamers, this is probably the better game in all honesty with you.

Franchise Differences[edit | edit source]
The Tactics Ogre series and the Ogre Battle series both have interconnected plots and characters. The main differences lie in the gameplay. While both remain strategy heavy titles, Tactics is based on smaller scale combat, employing elements such as individual soldier attacks, terrain height, and turn-based strategy and more, similar to the Final Fantasy Tactics series. It should be noted that Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, while more popular, was made after Tactics Ogre, with mostly the same team.
The Ogre Battle series, however, is more of a real-time strategy game, featuring larger scale combat. Instead of sending individual units to attack the enemy, the player sends out squads of 2 to 6 soldiers. When engaged in combat, the player is mostly left to watch the teams battle it out, relying on chance and stats to determine the outcome. Some degree of control is exercised through various game mechanics such as the Tarot cards in March of the Black Queen.
Important Characters[edit | edit source]
- Rashidi, something of a central villain in the story, who was known as a heroic Sage that saved the continent of Zeteginia. Attempted to summon the King of the Netherworld, and is prophecised to bring about the second Ogre Battle.
- Deneb Rhobe, a female witch, often a bonus or secret character, and the only character who appears in every Ogre game.
- Lans Tartare, an important villain who originated from Tactics Ogre:LUCT, and is elaborated upon in Tactics Ogre:TKoL.
- Destin Faroda, the main character from Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, who makes a return in OB64.
- Magnus Gallant, the main character of OB64. Leads a revolution to end class oppression.
The Future[edit | edit source]
No Ogre Battle or Tactics Ogre title has been announced. The franchise is now property of Square-Enix, which also employs many members of past OB teams. It is rumored that the creator of the series is looking to create another instalment once they are complete with other Square-Enix projects.
