As the driver uses macOS's private network driver interface, which is supposed to be used by Apple provided drivers only, you might run into problems after an OS update because the linker may fail to recognize that IONetworking.kext has been updated and that the driver needs to be linked against the new version (Apple provided drivers avoid this problem because they are always updated together with IONetworking.kext). Check you have correct drivers installed A few controllers will need drivers to be installed before it will connect with a Mac computer, if your controller needs drivers you will need to download them from your controllers' manufacturers website. Cylance Mac Os Driver Failed To Connect Computer

Hi raguphoto,
I understand that since updating to macOS Sierra, you've been unable to connect to some local servers using their server name. I know it's nice to be able to quickly recall a server and not have to remember their IP, so I'm happy to help.
To start, check out the troubleshooting provided in this article:
How to connect with File Sharing on your Mac - Apple Support
Some key points that I'd like to call out from that article would be to try connecting with the URL for the connection protocol before the Server name, as well as trying to browse to those servers using Finder.
If you continue to have this issue, go ahead and also test the connection in safe mode and another user account:
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
